The company specializes in designing and building multi-cavity molds by using the expertise of their full time tool makers and machinists, along with state-of-the-art CAD/CAM software. Every year, Lawrence Mold and Tool Corp. adds new equipment and manpower in order to remain flexible to the demands of the industry. The following are the services provided:
VERTICAL CNC MILLING EQUIPMENT: Four MAZAK Vertical Machining Centers with 32 bit processors, three axis simultaneous machining and automatic tool changers with travels up to and including 35” x 60”. All four machines can be programmed at the machine or via Direct Numerical Control. HIGH SPEED VERTICAL MACHINING CENTER: (NEW for 2007!) One Makino S56 with a 20,000 RPM spindle, travels of 36” x 20” x 18”, and heat shrink tooling.
HORIZONTAL CNC MILLING EQUIPMENT: One MAZAK Horizontal Machining Center with 32 bit processor, three axis simultaneous machining and an automatic tool changer with travels of 41” x 31” x 31” deep. This machine is also outfitted with a two-pallet system.
CNC TURNING: One MAZAK Turning Center with Live Tooling and Secondary Spindle with a maximum cutting diameter of 12”. This machine allows us to be exact - not just precise.
CNC WIRE EDM: (NEW for 2007!) One Makino SP64 Wire EDM, with travels of 26” x 16” x 16”.
CNC EDM: One Agie/Elox EDM with tank size of 24” x 36” and one 16” x 20” Eltee Pulsitron with CNC VMC controls.
MANUAL EDM: One Large Agie/Elox EDM with tank sizes of 30” x 50”, one medium size Agie 24” x 36”, and one 16” x 20” Eltee Pulsitron will satisfy any customer’s needs.
MILLING: Lawrence Mold and Tool Corp. prides itself on “old world craftsmanship”. We masterfully use all our manual equipment. We have 11 Bridgeport milling machines with 8” x 48” tables, two heavy-duty Van Norman vertical milling machines, one large Rambaudi vertical milling machine, and one large TOS Sigma horizontal milling machine. Our craftsmen are highly talented in all machinery operations.
TURNING: We have two lathes: a 16” diameter and a 19” diameter. We also have tracing capability.
SURFACE GRINDING: We use both auto and manual grinding. Our nine 6” x 18” manual surface grinders, two 8” x 18” Brown & Sharp, one Okomoto 12” x 24’, one Kent 16” x 40” and one ELB 24” x 60” auto surface grinders meet our customers’ every need.
CYLINDRICAL GRINDING: One automatic TOS 6” diameter x 22” long universal ID/OD cylindrical grinder.
DRILLING: We have two radial arm drill presses with a 36” drilling range.
MISCELLANEOUS: Two do-all vertical band saws, two horizontal cut-off saws, and a 24” x 36” grit blaster round out our capabilities
POLISHING/STONING: Three very talented full-time employees posses the experience to produce surface finishes up to SPE #1 (Optical). Examples of their talent are exhibited in such tools as the CD jewel and cassette boxes, aquarium windows and clock faces that we produced.
QUALITY CONTROL: To ensure the highest level of quality, we utilize a 29” x 29” x 40” Brown and Sharp CNC CMM with Reverse Engineering capabilities and a Starret 10X computerized optical comparator measuring machine.
MATERIAL HANDLING: In order to ensure high safety standards, we use cranes, carts, hoists and trucks to safely handle molds up to 8,000 lbs.
